Abstract

The Chester Physics Student Seminar Series is back with a webinar on career prospects in the Nuclear Technology sector, delivered by Elisabeth Cooke, Chief Process Engineer at Sellafield Ltd. The webinar will start with an introduction to the UK nuclear industry landscape, followed by career prospects for Physics and Chemical Engineering students. Sellafield members of staff Sadia Samas and Callum Brierly will also join the conversation and answer career-related questions.

Speaker's Bio

Elisabeth Cooke is Chief Process Engineer for Engineering Design with Sellafield Ltd. She has over 20 years’ experience within the UK nuclear industry and is a chartered Chemical Engineer and Fellow of the IChemE. She graduated with a MEng in Chemical Engineering and European Studies from Aston University and has worked in a variety of Engineering, Technical and Strategy roles across the Sellafield site supporting Decommissioning and clean-up projects, supporting the sites’ remediation mission. Her role as Head of Profession for Process Engineering includes responsibility for a very successful Industrial Placement and Graduate scheme which has helped many graduates achieve chartered status with the IChemE.
