Abstract
The issue of waste plastics in the environment is highly topical. Unsurprisingly, there are many stakeholders proposing solutions concerning the end-of-life of plastics and with the volume of plastics produced annually, the financial incentives are high. One proposed solution centres around degradability or biodegradability, but these terms are prone to confusion. In this seminar, I will explore the meaning of these terms and the implications of degradable plastics in various end-of-lie scenarios.
